Removal of air from a hydraulic actuator of brakes

Pumping of brakes is necessary for removal from a hydraulic actuator of air which can get to it owing to emergency depressurization of system, at repair or replacement of separate details and knots, and also in case of preventive replacement of brake fluid.

Points the increased brake pedal course ("a soft pedal") to availability of air in a hydraulic actuator of brakes about what the control lamp located on the dashboard can also signal.

When carrying out pumping it is necessary to remember that the hydraulic actuator has two independent contours:

– one unites the big cylinders of brackets of forward brakes connected by hoses and pipelines via the signaling device;
– the second – small cylinders of brackets of forward brakes and wheel cylinders of back brakes.

Air from the brake system is deleted at first from one contour, since the big cylinder of the right bracket, then from the second, since the small cylinder of the right bracket, and in the last turn – from wheel cylinders of back brakes, starting with right.

In case of repair of any concrete knot pumping should be begun with it.

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Before removal of air from the brake system it is necessary to be convinced of tightness of all knots of the drive of brakes and their connections, to clear of dirt and raise dust a cover and a surface around a cover of a tank of the main cylinder of a brake, to fill a tank with liquid "Neva", "Tom", "Rosa" to the mark "MAH".

Prevention

The brake fluids "Neva", "Tom", "Rosa" can be mixed among themselves.

Use of brake fluids of other brands (BSK, etc.) and their mixing with recommended is not allowed.


2. Then carefully to clear of dirt and dust of the valve of production of air on knot from which air will be removed and to remove protective rubber caps from valves.
3. Operation on removal of air from a hydraulic actuator of brakes is carried out, as a rule, by two persons, and it is carried out as follows.
4. To put on the valve 1 (see rice. Removal of air from a hydraulic actuator of brakes) production of air a rubber or plastic hose 2 for liquid discharge.
5. To ship the end of a hose in the pure transparent vessel 3 which is partially filled with brake fluid.
6. To press sharply a pedal of a brake of 4-5 times (with intervals between pressing 1–2 c), and then, holding a pedal pressed, to unscrew the valve of production of air on 1/2–3/4 turns, at the same time in the liquid following from a hose vials of air will be visible (this operation should be made with the assistant).
7. After replacement of liquid from a hose stops, to wrap densely the valve of production of air and to release a brake pedal.
8. To repeat the previous operation until allocation of vials of air from the following liquid completely does not stop.

Prevention

It is not recommended to apply the liquid merged from system for filling of a tank as it is saturated with air, contains moisture and, perhaps, it is polluted. During removal of air from a hydraulic actuator it is necessary to add brake fluid to a tank, without allowing decrease in level in it the marks "M1M" are lower, remembering that each contour of a hydraulic actuator has the cavity in a tank.


9. To remove a hose, to wipe the valve and to put on it a protective cap.
10. To repeat operations on pumping on all brake knots, deleting air from them in the same sequence.
