11.6.3.3.1. Survey and check of spark plugs

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. After removal of a candle from the engine be convinced of lack of any mechanical damages of a thermal cone of the insulator and electrodes of a candle.
2. In the presence of a soot on a thermal cone of the insulator to clear a candle on the sanding device, to wash out a brush in pure gasoline and to blow compressed air.
3. Then to check a gap between electrodes which has to be within 0,8–0,95 mm. At adjustment of a gap it is impossible to press the central electrode as it can lead to breakage of a nose of the insulator.
4. To make check of serviceability of a candle on the special device under pressure.
In serviceable candles with a pressure of 834±49 kPa (8,5±0,5 kgfs/cm2) uninterrupted sparking between electrodes has to be provided.
With a pressure of 1031±49 kPa (10,5±0,5 kgfs/cm2) the new candle has to be tight – air should not pass in junctions of the central electrode with the insulator and cases with the insulator.
