2.1.4. Adjustment of thermal gaps in the drive of valves

It is carried out at a run of the new car of 1,5 thousand km (after tightening of fastening of a head of cylinders) and further through each 15 thousand km., and also in case the continuous knock in the valvate mechanism appears.

Thermal gaps between cams and levers of inlet and final valves have to be equal:

  – 0,15 mm – on the cold engine;
  – 0,20 mm – on the heated-up engine.

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. To uncover a head of the block of cylinders with laying.
2. Rotating a bent shaft (a special key) clockwise, to combine an adjusting tag (1) on a camshaft asterisk with adjusting inflow (2) on the case of bearings of the camshaft. At the same time the piston of the fourth cylinder is in VMT at the end of a step of compression and both valves are closed.
3. To adjust gaps between levers and cams of the camshaft at the final valve of the fourth cylinder (the eighth cam) and the inlet valve of the third cylinder (the sixth cam).
4. For this purpose it is necessary to weaken a lock-nut (3) of an adjusting bolt and, rotating an adjusting bolt (2), to check the required gap the flat probe (1) inserted between a cam and the lever.
5. Holding in this situation a key an adjusting bolt, to tighten a lock-nut and again to check a gap. The probe has to move in a gap with easy jamming.
6. Turning a bent shaft on 1/2 turns, to adjust gaps in a certain sequence.
7. To establish a cover into place.

Check and adjustment of gaps in the mechanism of the drive of valves

1 – flat probe;

2 – press yoke screw;

3 – lock-nut;

4 – yoke;

5 – tip of the press screw

Thermal gaps between end faces of tips of yokes and cores of inlet and final valves have to be equal to 0,15 mm on the cold engine and 0,20 mm on heated-up.

In a head of the block of cylinders inlet valves are located to the left of the camshaft (on the car course), and final – on the right.

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. To disconnect a tube of ventilation of a case of the engine from a branch pipe on a cover of a head of the block of cylinders and to uncover with laying a head.
2. Rotating a bent shaft (a special key) clockwise, to combine an adjusting tag (2) advancings of ignition on 0 ° (V.M.T.) on a pulley of a bent shaft (the second when counting in the direction of rotation of a bent shaft) with an adjusting pin (1) on the lower cover of distributive asterisks. At the same time the piston of the first cylinder (including from an engine cooling system radiator) is in VMT at the end of a step of compression and both valves are closed. (3 – an ignition advancing tag on 10 °).
3. To check the flat probe 1 (see rice. Check and adjustment of gaps in the mechanism of the drive of valves) gaps between end faces of tips of the 5th press screw and cores of valves of the first cylinder.
4. To adjust gaps between end faces of tips and cores of valves.
5. For this purpose to turn off a little a lock-nut 3 press screws 2 yokes and to rotate a head of this screw before receiving the required gap.
6. To tighten a lock-nut of the press screw of a yoke and again to check a gap. The probe has to move in a gap with easy jamming.
7. Turning a bent shaft on 1/2 turns, to check and, in case of need, to adjust gaps in a certain sequence.
8. To establish into place a cover of a head of the block and to attach a tube of ventilation of a case to its branch pipe.
