AZLK 2141 (Muscovite)

The Muscovite-2141 - the car of the third group of a small class with a body like hatchback which was issued from 1986 to 1996 at Automobile plant of a name of Lenin Komsomol (AZLK).

The design of a power framework of "Muscovite" of the fourth generation was based on the French model of the middle of the 1970th SIMCA 1307/1308, by the way, which received the title "Car 1975/1976 of Year". Designers of the plant in the memoirs claimed that the first sample of M-2141 represented a framework of "sim card" with newly the hung body panels of other form and a domestic running gear. As external body panels were designed anew, to AZLK from French there were no claims in respect of unlicensed use of intellectual property, and the exterior of M-2141 turned out ultramodern for the middle of the 1980th years, reminding novelties of Audi 80 and BMW of that time of the fifth series. Front-wheel configuration with the longitudinal arrangement of the engine and differential established between the engine and the check point - was borrowed from the German Audi 100 model. The choice of such rather rare configuration was connected with need of use of engines from rear wheel drive cars of the previous generation, and also more wide choice of possible power units and, in the long term, a possibility of creation of cars with the four-wheel drive (those were created existence of the enterprise already in recent years).

On front-wheel "Muscovite" carburetor engines with a working volume of 1500, 1700, 1800 and 2000 cm3 of production of the Ufa Plant of Automobile Motors (UPAM), and also 1600 cm3 of production the VAZ, and also the diesel engine 1800 of cm3 Ford (export M-2141-136) were installed. The only type of the transmission was 5-staged mechanical though on model of the first releases was established as well the 4-staged transmission.

The capacious inside and the luggage compartment increased due to folding of a back seat, effective heating of salon, easy steering, good controllability at high speeds and passability on the snow-covered and polluted roads are characteristic of the Muscovite-2141 family. Maintainability of the car partially expiated imperfection and unreliability of the knots and units applied on it. On set of consumer characteristics the Muscovite-2141 most answered the concept "family car", surpassing closer small-capacity models of AVTOVAZ.

For the Muscovite-2141 families (hatchback) and "Muscovite-2142" (sedan) the original family of Muscovite engines under which at AZLK own production was created was designed. However, being constructed by the beginning of the 1990th for 90-95% (data differ) because of the begun economic crisis the plant was not completed, and after its installed equipment was dismantled, written off and simply lost. As a result the Muscovite-2141 who was "temporarily" starting on VAZ-2106 engines (M-2141) and UZAM-412 (M-21412) did not wait for the modern engine that to a great extent predetermined its unsuccessful destiny. Besides, quality of accessories and assembly, and especially colourings of bodies on AZLK was frankly unsatisfactory and over the years more and more worsened. The body of the average car began to korrodirovat in the first year of operation that had an adverse effect on image of model. Modification 21412 differed in extremely unsuccessful combination of the obsolete Ufa UZAM-412 engine conducting the family tree from the captured BMW motor with more modern vehicular part. As a result the car had no a necessary capacity and dynamics, besides adaptation of the motor under a new motor compartment was made unsuccessfully so a number of knots and hinged units (first of all the distributor of ignition and a broad tank of the cooling system) were the most vulnerable and in addition reduced already low reliability of the car.
